Pjanic exit rumors ramp up after Koeman stay confirmed

The midfielder looks set to depart after just one season

Barcelona’s decision to continue with Ronald Koeman looks set to be bad news for several first-teamers including midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The 31-year-old only made six La Liga starts in his first season at the Camp Nou and made his frustration about his lack of game time clear on a couple of occasions.

Pjanic’s complaints did nothing to help his cause and despite saying in March in an interview he didn’t sign for Barcelona to leave after just one season you suspect that is exactly what will happen.

The midfielder turned 31 in April and won’t want to spend another season mostly on the bench, something that looks almost certain to happen if he remains at the Camp Nou.

A move to Juventus could be on the cards with speculation having increased in the last few days since Koeman’s continuity was announced. Chelsea had been rumored to be interested too but Pjanic would reportedly prefer to head back to Serie A.

According to Gerard Romero at RAC1, Juve coach Max Allegri would be happy to have Pjanic back in Turin, while Tuttosport reckon the midfielder would be keen to work with his former boss again.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have also reported that Juventus are studying the possibility of bringing Pjanic back on what would initially be a loan deal.

Meanwhile, Diario Sport reckon that if a loan is not possible a player exchange could be on the cards with Matthjis de Ligt, Alex Sandro, and Rodrigo Bentancur all mentioned as players Barca like.

It’s not quite clear what kind of deal might happen if Pjanic is to move, but the signs all point to the 31-year-old heading away from Barcelona after a tough season with the Catalan giants.
