‘There are many reasons to be excited’
Former Barcelona assistant coach Juan Carlos Unzué has been talking about the arrival of Ronald Koeman and thinks there are reasons to be excited about the new coach.
Unzue says patience will be needed as Koeman adapts to life at the Camp Nou and shapes his team and admits it could be a long campaign for the Catalan giants.
However, the 53-year-old also feels the Dutch coach is a good appointment due to his long history with the club.
“It is not going to be an easy year but there are many reasons to be excited. There is a change in dynamics in the team, Ronald has been a very good choice because he knows Barca and that is very important,” he said.
“There are players that we are going to miss for what a player of that level implies, but no one is essential. Some go down in history, but new players end up arriving and Barcelona will always have good players.”

Unzue spent time as a player and a coach at Barca. He was a goalkeeper in his playing days and went on to assist Luis Enrique, helping the club win the treble in their first season together.
The former Barca man revealed earlier this year he’s suffering from ALS and also spoke about his condition. Unzue said he feels mentally strong and is continuing to keep active despite the difficulties he faces which have been complicated further by the pandemic.
