The midfielder made his first start of the season
Carles Alena was handed his first Barcelona start of the season against Dynamo Kiev and certainly did not let Ronald Koeman down in the 4-0 Champions League win.
The midfielder, who has been linked with a January exit, came in from the injured Sergio Busquets and partnered Miralem Pjanic in midfield.
It’s fair to say that Alena barely put a foot wrong when it came to passing:

Alena will be hoping he’s done enough to earn more game time in the weeks ahead, and Barca certainly have plenty of fixtures between now and the opening of the January window.
Busquets has been tipped to return at the weekend against Osasuna, although it’s not guaranteed yet that he will be fit to start. Frenkie de Jong should also return after being rested but may be needed in defense due to the club’s injury problems.
