A painful night for the visitors
Barcelona lost Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto to injury during Saturday’s defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Pique went off just before the hour and looked to be close to tears as he hobbled off the pitch. The center-back hurt his knee in a challenge with Angel Correa and looked in real pain.
Sergino Dest came on for the final 30 minutes, with Frenkie de Jong dropping back into the defense again, and Roberto moving into midfield.
Yet Roberto didn’t last the match either. The 28-year-old hobbled off in stoppage time, leaving Barca to finish the game with 10 men as Koeman didn’t make his fifth sub.

Roberto seemed to injure his thigh when trying his luck with a shot from range that was deflected wide.
Barca are already without Samuel Umtiti, Ronald Araujo, and Sergio Busquets due to injury, leaving Koeman really short of options ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
Sport are reporting that Barca fear Pique could be out for “4 to 6 months,” although that’s not confirmed and more tests are needed to determined the severity of the problem.
