The Frenchman played down his goal
Antoine Griezmann was in pretty honest mood when it came to talking about his goal for Barcelona in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Osasuna at the Camp Nou.
The Frenchman scored an eye-catching strike to make it 2-0, volleying home from outside the penalty area on 42 minutes after Martin Braithwaite had opened the scoring.
It was an impressive performance from Griezmann, who also set up Philippe Coutinho for Barca’s third, and he offered his thoughts after the match.
“It’s one of those that either flies in or goes into the stands... luckily today it’s gone in.
“This morning, I was having breakfast with my daughter and I asked her how she would like me to celebrate a goal. She told me to do this and that’s how it came about!
“It was an important win because those at the top keep winning and we have to be close to them. We know the season is long and we want to be champions. Seeing how we played in the Champions League and again today, there are reasons to believe we can reach that objective.”

Manager Ronald Koeman was also impressed by Griezmann’s performance and singled the France international out for praise after the full-time whistle.
“Today he looked like the player we all want to see, someone who fights, who works hard and is effective in front of goal.
“He played with a lot of freedom, he provided an assist and scored a great goal. He has not changed, he has always worked as hard as he could, but today he created a lot more space with his movement. And his goal is sure to give him confidence.”

Griezman now has four goals and two assists in his last six games for Barca in all competitions and looks to have found some form after a slow start to the 2020-21 campaign.
