The club may have to splash out to keep the teenager
Barcelona are keen to extend starlet Ilaix Moriba’s contract but are aware the 17-year-old midfielder is attracting plenty of interest from other clubs.
Moriba, who is now part of the Barcelona B squad, is currently tied to the club until 2022 and has a release clause set at €100 million.
According to ESPN, Barca want to extend his deal “at all costs” and Moriba’s agents are “waiting for a call” from the Catalan giants “to begin a new round of talks.”
However, the club’s tricky financial situation and lack of a president currently makes contract negotiations a little difficult.
The report claims that Barca “will have no choice but to make a substantial offer” if they are to keep hold of Moriba but do believe he could be the next youngster to break into the first team.
