A big second half and a big win

Barcelona remain perfect in Europe and are officially through to the Champions League Round of 16 thanks to a comfortable 4-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine. The Blaugrana were in control for the entire game and found the goals in the second half, with Sergiño Dest, Martin Braithwaite and Antoine Griezmann all finding the back of the net in what was a big win despite the absences.

FIRST HALF

The theme of the first half was Barça with the ball and Dynamo trying to counter attack. The Blaugrana looked pretty good in possession at times and tried to pass their way into the box only to find a well-organized Dynamo defense, so they couldn’t create any meaningful chances.

The hosts weren’t very dangerous either, and Ter Stegen had two comfortable saves to make in the entire half. The game wasn’t exactly boring because there was good intensity and pace to the way each team played, but there were no real chances and just three total shots on target that never truly threatened.

At halftime, a somewhat uneventful game had no goals but Barça were still on track to qualify for the knockout stages.

SECOND HALF

Barça started the second half by finally creating and taking their chances: first Dest made a great run into the box, took the ball from Braithwaite and scored the opener; then Braithwaite finally found the back of the net with two goals, the first a tap-in off a corner and the second from the penalty spot after winning it himself.

With 20 minutes left in the game the win was in the bag, and Barça just cruised against a demoralized Dynamo team. Brazilian midfielder Matheus Fernandes made his debut, Riqui Puig finally got a chance to play and Barça just ran out the clock, thought there was still time for Antoine Griezmann to join the scoring party in stoppage time.

The final whistle came to end a very good performance by the “other guys”, and Barça still haven’t dropped points in Europe. If only we were this good in La Liga.
