Six players have tested positive for Covid-19

Barcelona look set to face a weakened Dynamo Kiev side in their third Champions League group game on Wednesday at the Camp Nou.

Catalunya Radio and Sport both reported the visitors could have up to 11 first-team players missing for the game mostly because of coronavirus.

The club subsequently confirmed in a statement that six players, Georgy Tsitaishvili, Denis Garmash, Mikkel Duelund, Alexander Karavaev, Tudor Belutse and Mykola Shaparenko, have all tested positive.

Assistant head coach Emil Karas has also tested positive along with four other staff members. All of the players and coaching staff are said to be “feeling satisfactory” and now self-isolating.

Dynamo Kiev have done pretty well since Lucescu took charge in July and are unbeaten in nine domestic matches since he took charge, winning seven of those games.

Their only defeat under Lucescu came in their Champions League opener when they suffered a 2-0 reverse at home to Juventus.

Dynamo Kiev then looked set to pick up all three points against Ferencvaros after going 2-0 up but conceded a 90th minute equalizer to leave them with just a point from their first two games.

Barcelona have won both group games so far and will be big favorites to claim all three points again on Wednesday.

Yet it’s worth noting that Real Madrid hosted a Shakhtar Donetsk side without a host of players due to Covid-19 and were beaten 3-2 by their second-string.
