The champions deservedly lost at the Bernabeu
Where do you even start with that? Utterly abysmal virtually from start to finish.
A few brief flashes aside, and against what certainly wasn’t the best Real Madrid side of recent memory, Barca could’ve played for another 90 minutes and still not found the back of the net.
Frenkie de Jong had arguably his worst game in the blaugrana, playing consistently under-hit passes, not finding his targets and not making sharp enough movements to show for the likes of Sergio Busquets.
Indeed, lack of sharpness and movement appeared to be a theme right throughout the side, with some of the players even looking sluggish at times.
De Jong and Griezmann both poor tonight but that's not because they are poor players - it's because they/their teammates don't know their roles. Same issue for Dembele and Coutinho. 400+ million. On players who don't/can't fit it. Sheesh that's frightening.

And let’s call it right too. Leo Messi wasn’t much better either. When was the last time you saw him struggling to get away from Marcelo?! Rest him if he’s not fit, or bench him when he’s not good enough. He doesn’t get a free pass.
Yes, we had our chances to score, but ultimately we didn’t and paid the heaviest price. Were it not for Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Gerard Pique’s heroics the damage would’ve been far, far worse.
Let’s hope that Arturo Vidal was shaking his head when leaving the pitch because of his own lack of passion and desire in what was the biggest game of the season to date.
If it was because he was coming off early again, then he too needs to take a long hard look at himself.
I’ve seen the light

De jong Vidal and Griezmann need to be dropped
Messi needs to be criticized and rightly so he’s been average under setien
Never criticize pique again he has a bunch of bums around him
Despite Casemiro and Toni Kroos being more laboured generally, they bossed the midfield at times, and that simply isn’t good enough.
Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane were rarely put under any pressure, and certainly not enough to see the mistakes that they often make creep in.
And maybe we need to look at Quique Setien’s set-up too.
Whilst a four-man midfield is understandable to a point, once it was clear that it wasn’t really working apart from possessions sake, then the coach needed to be proactive and change things.
Setién’s downfall will be not believing in his own ideal’s because he‘s too afraid to fail. If you’re gonna be pragmatic and boring, do it the Valverde way. If you’re going to opt for possession then dare to be courageous. No half measures.

Before this evening, the Cantabrian had been (well he still is) the only coach to have beaten Zinedine Zidane twice, and yet the bravery which we have come to expect of his teams was nowhere to be seen.
That’s now five defeats this season and 31 goals conceded - the worst in the top five.
If anyone believes we still have a chance at winning the league from this point, frankly, you’re deluded.
Let’s get the season over with and hope to god the board get it right in the summer and we can start afresh... because that was pathetic.
