Possibly important signals as the socis elect the president of the club
Polls commissioned by Mundo Deportivo show that a majority of FC Barcelona’s shareholders want to renew coach Ernesto Valverde, keep the faith in Ousmane Dembélé, and reject the return of Neymar. The socis elect the club president, so their collective will is very important.
Almost 80% of socis approve renewing Valverde’s contract. When asked to rank his performance from 1 to 10, the shareholders give Valverde an average score of 7.42.
A majority (60.33%) give Valverde a score of either 7 or 8, while almost a fifth (18.33%) give him a score of 9 or 10. Only 2.33% of voters gave him a score below 5/10.
Asked to name a replacement for Valverde if he were to leave, the most frequent response was “don’t know / no answer” with a 35.33% share. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was next, with 19.33%, followed by club legend Xavi with 13.66%.
This poll of 300 shareholders was conducted by Estudi Press on December 22nd, by speaking to people outside the Camp Nou and the Palau Blaugrana before, during, and after the Barcelona-Celta match. The margin of error was +/- 4.6%.
Meanwhile, another poll showed a clear will to reject a theoretical return for Neymar. The Paris Saint-Germain player has been linked with a move back to the Camp Nou, but 67.66% of shareholders would reject him. The socis were much warmer to Dembélé, with 75.33% saying they would give him a vote of confidence and only 18.33% saying he should be sold at the end of the season. Only 6% said they had no answer, while the remaining less than 1% wanted to loan him out to help him mature.
No further details on these two polls was given by MD.
