Atletico Madrid’s left-back Theo Hernandez is a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid, setting up an intriguing contest for his signature. The latest news comes from Spanish radio station Cadena SER, which says that Atletico Madrid are willing to sell the young fullback for a cheaper price to Barcelona rather than to let him go to their crosstown rivals.
On El Larguero, a show on SER, presenter Manu Carreño insists that there is a full blown “cold war” developing between the two Madrid clubs, who are on the verge of a UEFA Champions League semifinal clash.
Hernandez plays on loan at Deportivo Alaves and, Carreño says, he is willing to play for Real Madrid next season, but Atletico are not prepared to allow it. Real are furious over it, wondering how it could be that a player they want to buy and who wants to play for them could end up in Catalonia.
If Hernandez goes to Barcelona, will Real Madrid go for Antoine Griezmann? Will Atletico then go for Alvaro Morata? These are the questions being asked.
On the other hand, what happens at Barcelona if this goes through? Is either Jordi Alba or Lucas Digne on their way out?
