The record books took a pounding at Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona may have made light work of Villarreal on Saturday but they also managed to give statisticans a field day as they continued to set records left, right and centre.
Here’s a few of the best statistics from the 4-1 win at Camp Nou that keeps Barca top of the La Liga table with just two games now left to play.
- Barca’s famed attacking MSN trio have now scored 100 goals in all competitions. The goals break down as follows: Messi has 50, Suarez has 34 and Neymar has 16.
- This is the third season in a row the MSN have scored over 100 goals. In 2014-15 they scored 122 goals and in 2015/16 they managed 131.
- Messi scored his 50th goal of the season against Villarreal. The Argentine now looks destined to be crowned the pichichi for the first time since 2012/13.
- Suarez has now scored as many goals for Barcelona as Hristo Stoichkov. The Uruguayan has 83 goals in 95 La Liga games for the club.
- Neymar, meanwhile, now has nine goals in nine games against Villarreal after opening the scoring at Camp Nou.
- Cedric Bakambu is also in blistering form, he has seven goals in his last six games.
- Barcelona have extended their superb run against Villarrreal. They have not lost to the Yellow Submarine in their last 16 La Liga meetings, stretching back to March 2008.
- Luis Enrique has now seen his side win their last 11 La Liga games at Camp Nou, their best ever run under the soon to depart coach.
