Ligue 1 is not the midfielder’s objective, apparently
Is Marco Verratti going to leave PSG? Will he come to Barcelona? Does anyone know? These are the questions that are being asked after the midfielder’s agent’s latest round of quotes.
The 24-year-old has rarely been out of the gossip pages this season after another hugely impressive campaign at Parc des Princes and with several top clubs all in need of midfield reinforcements.
Unsurprisingly there are defiant noises coming out of PSG who will not want a key player, who only signed a new long-term deal last August, to leave.
However, there have been reports of Verratti’s agent Donato Di Campli having meetings at Camp Nou and his latest words will only encourage Barcelona further.
"The PSG president has told us he is staying there and we've taken note," he said in quotes reported by Sport.
"He's an important player, but we will make our considerations. Right now, PSG feel that they cannot do without Marco. They want to rebuild around him and that is why, for now, it is hard to see him anywhere else.
"But if he is to stay in Paris, he must be the most important person there. Marco is 24 and he needs to start winning things like other champions, and if we think that Ligue 1 is the objective, then we've got it all wrong."
It has to be said that Verratti looks an absolutely perfect fit for Barca and if he can be tempted away from PSG this summer, the Blaugrana will surely want to be at the front of the queue.
