Pizzi to replace Luis Enrique?
Brace yourselves, we have yet another potential candidate to replace Luis Enrique, with a Sport ‘exclusive’ claiming Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi is now on the club’s radar.
The 48-year-old has a good relationship with Robert Fernandez, a reputation for playing attractive football and, yep you’ve guessed it, that all important ‘Barcelona DNA’.
While Ernesto Valverde remains the favourite, and an Athletic press conference called for this Thurday may be about to reveal his future, Pizzi and Juan Carlos Unzue are also in the race.
New Messi deal close & Ter Stegen renews
A new deal for Lionel Messi is inching closer and could be announced this month, so say Mundo Deportivo who feel the club are entering a crucial few weeks.
Negotiations between Messi’s father and the club are reportedly going well with the Argentine set to be handed a deal which far exceeds that signed by Neymar last year.
The club have also agreed a new five-year deal for goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen who has committed his future to the club.
Barcelona want to raise €100m in sales
Barcelona only have around €25m to spend this summer and will therefore sell Arda Turan and Jeremy Mathieu in order to fund a minor rebuild, according to AS.
The club want to sign two full-backs and a central midfielder with Hector Bellerin, Theo Hernandez, Marco Verratti and Phillipe Coutinho still the top targets.
