Barça's new midfielder is special.
André Gomes is a special footballer, and the Portuguese proved this and then some with his fantastic 90-minute performance in Barcelona's 7-0 victory against Celtic on Tuesday's Champions League group stage opener. The video above with all touches gives you a pretty good idea of how good it was.
Gomes played all three positions in midfield, and he played like a true Barça midfielder: fantastic passing accuracy, great positioning on offense and defense, smart off-ball movement and playmaking ability, all done with incredible poise and control. André was especially impressive when he played in Sergio Busquets' place in the final minutes of the second half, completely bossing the midfield from a deep position.
This is a very impressive performance, and it's encouraging as well because it clearly shows why Luis Enrique and Robert Fernández decided to take the opportunity in the market and go after Gomes' signing. The Euro 2016 winner displayed all the qualities you want to see from a Blaugrana midfielder, and he will definitely have even more performances like the one we saw on Tuesday. He's really, really good.
