Barcelona Star Gerard Piqué Drops MLS Hint

It's far in the future, but the defender has admitted he is interested in eventually playing in the United States.

Speaking at a sponsor event, Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué was given the choice between the Chinese league or the MLS, the United States' top division.

"They are both growing, though with different models. I read that the MLS is the seventh best-attended league in the world, after the five big ones and a sixth one. The fans are hooked on soccer more and more in the United States. I don't think I'd go to China, but we'll see about the United States."

Fact check: Piqué is right, the MLS is the seventh-highest attended soccer league in the world, behind the "big five" (Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1). Want to guess the "sixth one?" That's right, it's the Football League Championship, the second division of British football.

It's followed by the Campeonato Brasileiro, the Eredivisie, the 2. Bundesliga, the Chinese Super League, and Liga MX.

He went on to say: "I always said that I would like to retire at Barça, but it would be an attractive option in a few years, as long as I still crave playing soccer."
