Visca Barça! Visca Lucho! Visca los Goleadores!
Another immaculate performance from the good guys. As always, we should be grateful to be able to enjoy such delectable football from our team, enjoying their current run of form as arguably the top team in football. We might seem ungrateful when we overreact to a loss, yet we might also seem petty when we relish completely destroying an inferior team. The truth of the matter is we are very fortunate to be a part of this era of beautiful football. Lucky to be able to enjoy a brilliant, brave coach and a squad talented enough to bring to life his vision.
Barcelona has become a well oiled machine. A surefooted destroyer that is both lumbering menace, and athletic grace. A squad full of artists weaving a weft full of threads that spell...
Irish Goat's Three Gamboling Goleadores!
1st Goleador: Luis Suárez
The literal personification of the phrase "lumbering menace," yet not entirely accurate. Lumbering suggests Suárez is awkward and heavy. While Luisito is incredibly strong, he is also jaw-droppingly graceful. He is like a bear on skates dropping pirouettes like nobody's business. In this one game we were able to see some of the skills of this multifaceted player. The strength displayed when he muscled off the defender to set up an assist. His skill off the ball pulling players to him and opening spaces for his teammates. His incredibly precise passing when setting up both Neymar and Messi. Astonishing game from the man of the match and the world's best number 9.
2nd Goleador: Lionel Messi
2 goals and an assist would make any other player, any other day the man of the match. Another fantastic game from the little genius that helped start Barcelona off on the right foot after being heavily pressured by a Leganés team that came ready to play and not be cowed. At the beginning, the high pressure was paying off for the home side, as Barcelona had little possession of the ball and lost it easily when they did. Messi dropping back provided a necessary outlet for Barcelona which allowed the team to open play much more, relieving the pressure from the back line. His tremendous vision is also coupling nicely with Lucho's style of counterattacking play, as he is incredibly accurate and has astonishing timing when passing.
3rd Goleador: Andres Iniesta
Don Andres looked out there like he was 18 again but with the wisdom of his many successful years as a top footballer. He tirelessly ran after the ball, broke up a couple of heavily charged situations in Ter Tegen's box, disrupted the midfield presence of Leganés, and dribbled and passed like his usual self: with aplomb. His energy is a clear result of this system being instituted by the skipper of continuous rotation. He looks incredibly fresh, and as such is gracing us with some of his best football to date.
That is it for this edition of the Goleadores. As always comments are welcome, and Visca Barça!
