Luis Enrique has two players who could play right-back if Aleix Vidal doesn't start performing better.
The picture at right-back couldn't be clearer. Sergi Roberto owns the starting job and is playing with absolute top class. Aleix Vidal is struggling to break into the matchday squad.
So what happens if Vidal doesn't shape up? Well, the winter transfer window looms, but there is a more immediate option, or rather two: Nili and Sergi Palencia, two B teamers who are performing well.
Nili, whose real name is Francisco Perdomo, played for Las Palmas last year, where he made his La Liga debut. Meanwhile, Palencia is a La Masia product. Both can play multiple positions, but both are by their nature right-sided fullbacks.
Palencia has taken over the right-back spot at Barcelona B, where he is captain and one of Gerard López's go-to guys. Nili meanwhile has had to play as a forward to be accommodated into the team since Palencia is so automatic on the team sheet.
This suggests Palencia is really the one to look out for, but you never know. Both were registered for the Champions League, and while they are not going to feature against Borussia Mönchengladbach, we may see them get called up to train with the first team if Vidal doesn't change things and the youngsters keep performing.
