Report: Aleix Vidal not transfer listed after meeting with Barcelona director

He's not in the plans, but he is part of the plans!

One of the forgotten players in the Barcelona squad has been subject of transfer talks, but he won't be leaving. At least for now.

Mundo Deportivo reports that reserve full-back Aleix Vidal had a meeting with sporting director Robert Fernández earlier this week to discuss his place on the squad. Vidal is clearly out of Luis Enrique's plans at the moment, having played only once all season and being cut from the squad list in the last five official matches.

Vidal has had a very tough time adapting to the club ever since joining a year ago. He couldn't play until January 2016 because of the FIFA transfer ban, and struggled to become an important piece of the squad ever since he began to play. He had quite a few good performance in the first two or three months, but quickly became a forgotten piece in the squad, and only Douglas Pereira had fewer appearances than Aleix this calendar year.

But Robert reassured Vidal he can still fight his way back into Enrique's plans, and his performances in training will lead to opportunities on the pitch, and he could then become a rotation player in the coming months. Various reports have said Vidal struggles with the speed and intensity of the training sessions, which leads to poor performances in games.

Despite strong links to a Serie A transfer in the winter transfer window, Vidal was told by Robert that he still has a chance. He just needs to work for it.
