Incredible mark for an incredible player
One of the greatest players in history will reach an incredible landmark this weekend.
Andrés Iniesta is set to make his 600th apperance as a Barcelona player on Sunday's La Liga match against Celta Vigo, and incredible mark for a footballer who just last week celebrated 20 years as part of the club.
Iniesta made his Blaugrana debut in October 29, 2002, in a UEFA Champions League match against Club Brugges. He started that match wearing the #34 shirt, and who would have thought he would become one of the greatest players to ever step on a football pitch.
With 28 titles and some incredible goals scored in his Barça career, Iniesta's contribution to the club is simply undeniable. Alongside Xavi Hernández and Sergio Busquets and the guidance of Pep Guardiola, Iniesta formed the greatest midfield trio in history, and he won the 2010 World Cup for Spain with an extra-time goal.
His best performances always came in the biggest games, and Iniesta's last two masterpieces came last season, both in Madrid. Last November, he tore Real Madrid apart and led the Blaugrana to a 4-0 victory, and the entire Santiago Bernabéu crowd gave Andrés a standing ovation. Several months later, in the Copa del Rey Final against Sevilla at Vicent Calderón, he once again put on a show and calmly guided a 10-man Barça to an extra-time victory to earn another trophy.
The craziest thing about Iniesta is that he's still 32. For someone who's done so much for the game, you'd think he'd be older. But he's still got a few years of greatness ahead of him, and we won't be celebrating just his 600th appearances, but many more amazing games and performances. We love you, Don. We really do.
