Let's beat this damn Anoeta curse!
After a two-week break to celebrate the holidays, rest and play charitable matches, it's finally time to return to La Liga action for Barcelona. And the first game of 2015 is a tough one, as the Blaugrana will travel to the always difficult environment of Anoeta to take on Real Sociedad. After getting close to the leaders Real Madrid in the standings, Barça have to keep putting pressure on their biggest rivals, and a win on Sunday is certaintly going to do that.
But it definitely will not be easy. Both Real and Atlético Madrid have already made their trip to Sociedad, and both lost to a strong, resilient side, who is fueled by the passion of their fans and the talent of some really good players.
It will be also a special match for Barça goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who was the captain, leader and a top performer for Sociedad for almost a decade, turning him into and idol. Bravo expects a good ovation from the Anoeta, and the game has got to have a different feeling for the Chile international.
Dani Alves is back from injury, and he is expected to return to the starting lineup as he enters the final six months of his incredible time as Barcelona's right-back. He wants to end this era in the best way possible, and he'll get a chance to prove he's ready for the challenge if he's chosen by coach Luis Enrique to be part of the lineup on Sunday.
