By the time FC Barcelona take to the field later on tonight at the Riazor to face Deportivo La Coruna, they will have the distinct advantage, or disadvantage, of knowing their rivals' results. Real Madrid are of course in action this lunchtime in the Madrid derby against Getafe CF, while Atletico Madrid play later this afternoon against bottom of the table, Granada CF at the Vicente Calderon. In some ways, that might be a blessing for the Blaugrana; they will know what they have to do to keep pace with the league leaders and the reigning champions, although in another sense, achieving that may prove more difficult with the added pressure.
Especially away from home knowing how suspect our away form has been this La Liga season, and particularly at the Riazor, traditionally one of the tougher venues on the Spanish football map. Of course, with such incredible talent amongst their squad, FC Barcelona will be overwhelming favourites to pick up the win, yet Depor have been tough to beat at home. If you exclude the anomalous 2-8 defeat to Real Madrid, they have only conceded two goals at home on two separate occasions. At present, they have only conceded twice at home in their last five matches; make no mistake, this will be a tough test for the Blaugrana.
Travelling without Xavi, without Jeremy Mathieu, Luis Enrique will be looking to his star strikers to inspire the team to victory, just as they did last week against Atletico Madrid.
