With Deportivo largely toothless and the defense in front of Bravo doing a largely good job the Chilean only faced two shots. The first one was a fairly straightforward stop on a shot lacking power, but on the second one he showed his reflexes and the ability not to fall asleep due to lack of action, punching away Juan Domínguez’s dangerous shot. Bravo’s ball skills were once again on show as he made every play with the ball at his feet look nearly as easy as Xavi makes them look. | |

As usual, his passing was very strong as he once again combined very well with Messi, but his crossing was once again off the mark. But due to a poor reaction from the Deportivo defense one of his crosses actually led to an own goal. | |

In the first half you could hardly say he was even tested, though in the second half he had to make a couple of good plays, none better than the tackle he made mere yards from Bravo’s goal to stop Haris Medunjanin from getting a shot on goal. Mascherano spent the last 25 minutes of the game playing as defensive midfielder where he dealt with danger very well. | |

Ivan Cavaleiro caused him numerous problems throughout the first half, but thankfully, for Pique, the Portuguese forward was taken off at halftime. He then twice lost Isaac Cuenca, and the former Barcelona player could’ve easily made Barcelona pay on both occasions. Late in the game Deportivo created two more chances in his area of the pitch, first one because of a poor headed clearance, while the second came to fruition because of his poor positioning. | |

He was all over the place, making plays in all thirds of the pitch. Though there have been many games in which he had a larger impact on attack, Alba was always there to provide support and width in this one. Defensively he was also ever-present, making numerous tackles and interceptions. He also managed to get in the way of a dangerous looking shot in the 74th minute to defuse a potent attack. | |

His clever corner routine with Messi was a glimpse of the understanding that would lead to the first goal. A delicately weighted pass over the top of the defence was met with a bullet header from Messi and Rakitić was also on hand to set up the Argentine’s hat trick. This time a chipped through ball over the legs of two defenders before Messi curled it into the far corner. A great game for Rakitić in which he was the creative force of the Barça midfield. | |
