Bad news for Barcelona as the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 is right around the corner. The Blaugrana will travel to France's capital for the first leg against Paris Saint-Germain next week, and they'll be missing an important player.
Javier Mascherano suffered a hamstring injury in the final seconds of Tuesday's Copa del Rey semifinal match against Atlético Madrid and will be out for 2-3 weeks, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo. The report cites a moment late in the match where Mascherano raced down the flank with Atlético full-back Filipe Luís and pulled his thigh muscle. A scan today confirmed the injury.
Mascherano will certainly miss the first leg against PSG next week, but since the return match is a month from now at Camp Nou, the Argentine will most likely be ready to face the Parisians in the second game. The timing of Mascherano's injury isn't too bad, because Barça have Sergio Busquets back from injury, and with the other central defenders all healthy, it will be possible to endure three weeks without Masche.
