Barcelona star Neymar was subjected to allegedly racist chants during Saturday draw at local rivals Espanyol, his teammate Andres Iniesta confirmed. Though manager Luis Enrique declined to comment on the chants, Neymar's teammates called for the individuals responsible to be punished.

And once again, the Asturian coach showed little faith in his substitutes.

After starting this year with a derby at RCD Espanyol in La Liga, FC Barcelona face their local rivals once again, this time at the Camp Nou in the Copa del Rey, on Wednesday 6 January at 8:30pm CET. After falling behind in the 25th minute, the Catalans pushed hard for the equaliser, but one goal was waved off and another shot caught the post as their struggle to climb further away from the relegation zone ended in disappointment.

With Luis Enrique’s team playing two games in just four days either side of New Year, the fixture list has had more than a whiff of the Premier League about in La Liga this season. Indeed, Barça’s opponents in the last 16 of the Champions League, English side Arsenal, have gone one better during the festive period, playing three league games in the space of a week, recording wins against Bournemouth and Newcastle but going down to a heavy defeat against Southampton.
