While Barcelona gets ready for an important La Liga match this weekend, they'll have to do it without an important role player.
French defender Jérémy Mathieu, who started the midweek match against Espanyol, complained of muscle pain in the following training sessions. Further medical testing showed a calf strain, which will cause the player to miss this weekend's clash against Athletic Bilbao.
The club doesn't reveal the extent of the injury, adding that his evolution in the upcoming sessions will determine his availability for the immediate future. One thing is for certain: he won't be facing Bilbao on Sunday.
Another injury concern is handyman Adriano Correia, also complaining of muscle problems, but his status is doubtful as of now. He's going through tests prior to the match, and those will confirm either his presence or absence on this Sunday's key league game.
