Could Pedro play against Barcelona as early as this Saturday?
Rumors surrounding Pedro Rodriguez's exit from Barcelona have been ever present since the arrival of Luis Suarez after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Even though the 27-year-old signed a new contract with the Catalan club just before Josep Maria Bartomeu stepped down before the elections the rumors have failed to die down. In fact, they seemed to have gained some steam.
First, Pedro was hotly tipped to join Chelsea, but those rumors didn't materialize and probably won't after Jose Mourinho confirmed that he isn't in the market for a winger unless one of those on the Chelsea roster decides to leave. Now, according to sources in Spain and England, Manchester United is leading the race to land the Canary Islander and the Premier League side appear to be willing to match Pedro's rumored €30 million buy-clause.
If that indeed happens remains to be seen over the next few days, but Pedro's long time teammate, Sergio Busquets, confirmed that the winger is considering his future as he, understandably, struggles to see playing time in the Catalan capital. Speaking before the friendly match between the two clubs looking to make this deal, Barcelona and Manchester United, Busquets said: "I would want him to stay, I would love him to stay. He is a friend of mine and it will be his final decision. He wants to play more and get more minutes. That’s what he wants. But we are in a team of great players and it’s hard for him. Finally it will be his decision but I hope he stays."
