The Barcelona boss was not happy with the penalty

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman was pretty furious after Clasico defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday at the Camp Nou.

The boss was not happy with the decision to award Real Madrid a penalty in the second half for a shirt pull by Clement Lenglet on Sergio Ramos.

The Real Madrid captain scored the penalty to put the visitors 2-1 up and they saw out the win fairly comfortably with Luka Modric adding a third in stoppage time.

Koeman offered his thoughts after the game and felt it was a poor decision to award a spot-kick.

“For me, it is not a penalty. I have told the referee that I hope they can explain the issue of VAR to me here in Spain. In five days, the VAR only goes against Barça. He did not enter the penalty from Sevilla to Messi, in the two reds in Getafe, there are several examples. Why is there only VAR against us? I have asked the referee.

“VAR can be very good, but for all teams. Lenglet grabs him by the shirt, but not enough to be a penalty, because there are grabs like that in all the plays in the area. If you pull your shirt forward, you fall forward, not back.”

There’s no doubt that Lenglet has hold of Ramos’s shirt, but television replays showed the two tangling before the incident and the defender went to ground in typically theatrical fashion.

Koeman also insisted after the game he’s “not worried” by results despite losing twice in La Liga in less than a week and insisted he has “no doubts about the quality of the players.”
