He went off injured during the match against Juventus
Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo will be out at least two weeks after an injury to his right hamstring. The club did not give a timeline for his recovery, instead saying how he improves will determine how long he is out. But even the slightest injury of this kind will take at least two weeks to heal, according to medical experts.
That would mean he would be unavailable for the next three matches Barcelona are set to take on before the international break, after which it’s likely he’d be ready to return.
Araújo started the match against Juventus alongside Clemént Lenglet, with Piqué suspended due to a red card in his previous match. With Samuel Umtiti yet to appear this season due to recurring injury issues, Barcelona is out of natural centerbacks to supplant Piqué and Lenglet. Although the good news is that Umtiti has been on the mend and has participated in practice recently.
Against Juve, Sergio Busquets was subbed on, allowing, Frenkie de Jong to play in defense. If Umtiti is not ready to take part, then this seems to be manager Ronald Koeman’s emergency solution.
Apparently, Araújo started the match with a slight injury and only played because Barcelona were effectively out of options. He played until he could no longer go on.
