The president had some big news before leaving
Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned from his position as Barcelona president on Tuesday and then spoke at a press conference where he dropped another bombshell.
The 57-year-old said that before leaving the board agreed to join in a future European super league that has been talked about recently.
Here’s what the ex-president had to say about it:
OMG!!! Bartomeu: "I can announce some extraordinary news. Yesterday we accepted a proposal to participate in a future European superleague, which would guarantee the future financial sustainability of the club. And we have accepted the future Club World Cup format."

There’s long been talk of a European Super League, but the subject of breakaway league raised it’s head again recently.
Some of the world’s biggest clubs were said to be in talks about launching a new competition that would also see Wall Street bank JP Morgan involved.
Clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Barca, Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich have already been mentioned, although the plan would face plenty of opposition and it still seems unlikely currently.
