Can the Turks pull this off?
Here’s the latest transfer rumor coming out of Turkey: Galatasaray are interested in Barcelona duo Arda Turan and Javier Mascherano.
The Mascherano rumor comes from the Turkish paper Sozcu, while the outfit A Spor reported on the Arda rumor.
According to Sozcu, Galatasaray have contacted Mascherano’s agents and are willing to pay a five million euro transfer fee to secure his services and offer a two-year deal. Mascherano recently renewed his Barcelona contract until 2019.
Meanwhile, Arda’s departure has been rumored before, specifically to China, but he turned down those offers to leave. In any case, right now he has a contract until 2020.
Galatasaray are arguably Turkey’s biggest club, but they are not in a great place at the moment. They are fourth in the Super Lig after finishing sixth last year. New coach Igor Tudor must want to get some big signings to propel his team back to the summit of Turkish football. We’ll see if that includes any Barça players...
