Can Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez step up to give Barcelona a giant El Clásico victory?

They really need to

In case you didn't know, there's a little thing called El Clásico taking place this Sunday, and two somewhat famous teams called Real Madrid and Barcelona square off to basically decide who is going to win La Liga this season.

As we all know, this is a gigantic match for both teams, but Barça really need to win this one. Following the Champions League elimination on Wednesday, the Blaugrana cannot afford to end the season without a major trophy, and without European and league titles in the season, winning the Copa del Rey is a cause for consolation rather than celebration.

A victory in the Clásico doesn't guarantee Barça's title, but puts immense pressure in the league leaders who can't drop any more points if they are to win their first Liga in five years. Madrid come into this one in better form and are the favorites playing at home, and that's when Barça's biggest stars come into play.

We have no idea if Neymar will play or not, because he's either suspended or available with every new report, but regardless of the Brazilian's status for the match, Barça will really benefit from the other members of the 'MSN' trio stepping up to lead the Catalans to victory.

As weird and crazy as it sounds, Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez are not exactly in the form of their lives, and they really need to find their best football again before Sunday.

To expect a comprehensive, consistent team performance at the Bernabéu is very difficult when Luis Enrique is the manager, so once again Barça will need Messi and Suárez to carry them to victory. The problem is that Messi hasn't scored in his last FIVE Clásicos, while Suárez hasn't found the back of the net in his last four appearances this season and played pretty poorly in all of those four matches.

Messi usually contributes with assists when he isn't scoring, but he hasn't taken part in a Barça goal in the Clásico since his magical hat-trick in the 2014 match at the Bernabéu, which Barça won 4-3. As tough as it is to admit, Messi hasn't quite been himself against Madrid, and he'll be eager to end this poor run.

As for Suárez, he was the goalscorer in the last Clásico at the Camp Nou, but his current form has been horrible. Luisito's movement and shooting haven't been as sharp as usual, and he'll need to address that if Barça are to win on Sunday.

This Sunday's Clásico will decide Barça's fate this season, and we'll need to see our top players be top players. It won't be easy, but have more than enough talent to take the three points.

Please, Leo and Luis, step up. We need you.
