Neymar has been banned for three games following his red card in Barcelona’s loss to Malaga. The Brazilian star will miss the matches against Real Sociedad, Osasuna, and notably, Real Madrid.
Speculation had already been abuzz that Neymar would miss that pivotal Clasico and now it’s confirmed, though Barcelona could launch an appeal.
The forward got his first yellow card against Malaga for timewasting as he laced his boots near where an opponent was attempting a free kick.
He got his second for a foul later on, but it was his sarcastic applause of the fourth official which has motivated this extended ban.
Barcelona are in a hole in La Liga after that disappointing defeat, and it could get worse. On the other hand, perhaps the league was already all but gone the moment Barcelona went down to ten men in that match...
