Luis Suarez was at it again on Wednesday night, thrilling Camp Nou with a delicious bicycle kick to open the scoring as a sizzling Barcelona display utterly dismantled Sevilla.
Barca had already thumped the woodwork and utterly dominated Jorge Sampaoli’s side when Suarez turned on the magic, improvising brilliantly to flick the ball over his head and past a despairing Sergio Rico for the opener.
Not only was it a moment of sheer magic it also provided the platform for Barca to go on and win what looked like one of their toughest games left comfortably with Lionel Messi grabbing a brace.
Speaking after the game an understandably pumped Luis Enrique lavished praise on Suarez, insisting there is no-one better in the world in his position.
"I think Luis Suarez, not just with the physical side of his game but his capacity to shoot with one touch in the box, knowing where the goal is is great," Luis Enrique said after the game.
"It is clear his potential is big due to his physique, but it is not just about his physical skills.
"His quality, his quick shots and his movement are amazing and make him the best number nine in the world."
Better than Lewandowski, Aguero, Benzema, Dybala and anyone else you can think of according to Lucho and there is no doubting Suarez is on fire at the moment with seven goals in his last eight games.
It’s not just the quantity of goals he’s scoring either, the quality is something else. Not content with his delightful chip against Granada last weekend, his effort against Sevilla had commentators purring.
That’s not all he brings to the party though, Suarez ought to have been given a penalty after just seven minutes when he was bundled to the floor by Nicolas Pareja and also squared the ball to set up Messi for Barca’s second.
The Uruguayan has been guilty of missing chances this year but, unlike last season, he seems to be getting stronger as the season progresses and with Juventus and Real Madrid on the horizon it couldn’t be better timed.
