The hard work has turned Luis Enrique into a very respected man within the Barcelona ranks.
After a change of scenery, scheme and personality, the Asturian coached his way into a Treble, the second in club history. Even with clashes with the team's biggest star, Lionel Messi, Enrique was able to manage the group in such a way that turned around his relationship with the Argentine. They're not friends, but good co-workers who respect each other and act professionally for the sake of the group.
His successful debut campaign has gained the appreciation of everyone on the board. A lot of officials were not happy when Lucho was first signed, and the tumultuous start he had contributed to a lot of pressure from those board members toward president Josep Maria Bartomeu. But he decided to stick with the plan, and his trust proved to be a success when the team won everything.
And those board members now respect Enrique, like his management style and trust him a lot more than anyone expected. With the club elections rapidly approaching, and a change of presidency imminent, it does not look like Lucho's job is remotely in danger. Every candidate is reportedly on board with keeping the coach, and giving him trust to make decisions.
In fact, Enrique is gaining more power as a true manager more than just a coach. He was heavily involved in the signing of Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan, and he is expected to be a major player in the next transfer window, once the ban is over and the Blaugrana are finally able to sign and register players right away.
Doesn't matter who the president is, they will deal with a more respected, and powerful, football coach.
