The schedule for Barcelona on Thursday was clear: medicals for Neymar Jr., Dani Alves and Marc-André ter Stegen, then a light training for the three to wrap up the day at the Ciutat Esportiva. But two of the players who were in vacation decided they've had enough of this whole resting thing.
Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, the two Blaugrana players who reached the Copa América final with Argentina a month or so ago, decided to rejoin the squad earlier than scheduled. Both were only expected to return only on Monday, but the Albiceleste internationals want to play on next week's Joan Gamper Trophy, the traditional Camp Nou opener, which will be played next Wednesday against Roma.
While the club hasn't officially confirmed it, it's expected that Messi and Mascherano train normally with the team on all four sessions that will be held on Friday and Saturday. They're likely not traveling to Italy for Sunday's friendly against Fiorentina, though the possibility still exists.
The only member of the squad yet to return to training is Chile captain and Copa América champion Claudio Bravo. He will rejoin the team on Monday, and will not play the Gamper match.
