The Spanish winger could be ready for a change of scenery.
Pedro Rodriguez may have signed a contract extension with FC Barcelona, but the Spanish winger could still be on his way out.
Several European, particularly English, clubs have made offers for Pedro, and the player himself is not sure about his lack of playing time behind Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, especially ahead of the European Championships at the end of the season.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are apparently interested, but one team has emerged as a clear favorite to land Pedro - Chelsea FC.
Coach Luis Enrique wants Pedro to stay, at least until January when Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal can start playing for Barcelona. However, Pedro's release club has reportedly been lowered to a relatively cheap 30 million euro.
According to Diario Sport, Pedro had initially agreed to remain at the club and thus signed the extension. He even rejected big-money offers to move elsewhere. However, he asked for his buyout fee to be lowered from 150 million to 30 million in case his situation worsened. And as time has passed, the player has begun to change his mind on staying.
A talk with Blues boss and former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, plus a chat with his friend and former teammate Cesc Fabregas, have apparently convinced the Canary Islander that his future is in London.
Supposedly, Pedro believes he will get a chance to start at Chelsea, and he has become convinced he will never truly complete with Messi, Suarez, or Neymar for playing time.
If Pedro wants to leave, he essentially can and there is little Barcelona can do about it. However, they could try to plead with him and appeal to his emotional side for him to stay... just until January at least. We will see what happens...
