The Ajax star remains a target
Barcelona are reportedly still heavily interested in Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong. If it feels like you’ve read that Barcelona are re-interested in de Jong a few times this summer, it’s because you have.
The talks have mostly been on again off again discussions that have swayed on the problem that Ajax just doesn’t seem to want to sell the player. While De Jong has expressed interest in moving to Barcelona, it doesn’t seem like he’ll pull a Philippe Coutinho and force his way out.
The transfer wouldn’t be a huge surprise if it happened at a large price, Barcelona are eager to improve their midfield and are getting to the point where they’ll overpay for this to happen. As the deadline gets closer and closer, the likelihood Barcelona overpay for De Jong increases.
