How to catch Barca stars in action during the international break

There are 11 players away with their national teams

Barcelona players are off around the world this week on international duty and there’s plenty of chances to catch our players in action.

There are some key fixtures being played too. Barca’s Spain contingent are going for glory in the Nations League, while elsewhere it’s all about World Cup qualifying.

Here’s a look at what Barca’s internationals are up to over the next week or so.

Spain

Spain quartet Eric Garcia, Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto and Gavi are in Italy for the Nations League Final Four. Luis Enrique’s side play Italy in their semi-final on Wednesday and the winners will play either Belgium or France on Sunday. There’s also a third place play-off game which means Spain will play again even if they do lose to Italy at the San Siro.

All eyes will be on young Gavi on Wednesday to see if the 17-year-old makes his debut for the national team. If he does he will become Spain’s youngest ever international and Luis Enrique has hinted he may get minutes.

Netherlands

Frenkie de Jong, Luuk de Jong and Memphis Depay are all in the Netherlands squad for World Cup qualifiers against Latvia (on Friday 8) and Gibraltar (on Monday 11).

Louis van Gaal’s side are joint top of Group G with Norway. Both teams have 13 points from six games and are favorites to qualify ahead of third-placed Norway.

The Netherlands have scored 10 goals in their last two games (6-1 vs Turkey and 4-0 vs Montenegro) and anything other than six points from these two games will be a surprise.

Germany

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is back in the Germany squad and likely to be back on the bench for their qualifiers. Up first is a visit from Romania on Friday before the squad travel to North Macedonia on Monday.

Joachim Low’s side are comfortably top of their group with five wins from six that means they have a healthy four-point lead over Armenia heading into the latest round of international fixtures.

Austria

Barcelona teenager Yusuf Demir hasn’t seen too much action for the Catalans lately but will be hoping for minutes for Austria. The team play the Faroe Islands on Saturday and follow that up with a game against Denmark on Tuesday.

Uruguay

Next up is Barca center-back Ronald Araujo who has a busy fixture list with three World Cup qualifiers on the cards for Uruguay.

FIrst up is a visit from Colombia on Thursday before a meeting with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Argentina in Buenos Aires on Sunday.

Araujo and Uruguay then finish off with another tricky fixture against Brazil in Manuas on Thursday 14th October.

USA

Araujo’s not the only player potentially facing three games over the international break as Sergino Dest and the USMNT also have a busy schedule.

Gregg Berhalter’s squad host Jamaica in Texas on Thursday, head to Panama on Sunday, and then return home for a final game against Costa Rica in Ohio on Thursday 14.

The USMNT have work to do after taking five points total from three matches and being held to a disappointing draw by Canada last time out.
