The captain spoke out after the match
Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets felt his team did not deserve to lose El Clasico after being beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid at the Camp Nou on Sunday in La Liga.
Goals from David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez saw Los Blancos take the victory and head back to the Spanish capital with all three points.
Sergio Aguero did manage a consolation for Barcelona but that was about as good as it got on another disappointing day for the Catalan giants.
Busquets fronted up after the match to offer his thoughts and felt the result was harsh on the hosts.
“We knew that they would let us have the ball, and that with Vinicius and Rodrygo they have that speed,” he said.
“I think we put in a decent performance. They scored on the break and it did us a lot of damage. We had chances too with Dest and Ansu. I don’t think we deserved to lose but that’s football.
“In games like this when it’s so tight whoever scores first has the big advantage. I think Sergino’s chance was quite definitive, there was Pique’s chance too, but they were more effective than us.
“We’ve lost three points, Madrid have a bit of a gap. Let’s see if we can get Dembele back he’ll give us more options up front. We keep fighting because there’s a lot of league left.”
The result sees Madrid move five points ahead of Barca and means Los Blancos have now won four Clasicos in a row for the first time in 56 years.
