Another young winger on the way out?
Some rotations are made out of necessity and some are made out of tactical wherewithal. What hasn’t been clear in the case of Yusuf Demir, is which one of those two he falls under.
In the early stages of the year, Demir was receiving a decent amount of playing time. The youngsterfeatured against Bayern Munich and seemed like he was set-up for a solid season with the club.
However, he hasn’t featured in the last five matches leaving us to question where he stands in Ronald Koeman’s matchday lineups. According to a source via Sport, the reason he’s stopped getting playing time is his style seemed to change with the pressure of the matches.
“He did well in preseason, but the pressure weighed on him when the season started,” a source says. “He stopped trying to take players on, he didn’t take risks. The ball would come to him and he would always play short.”
Demir was only signed on loan and it seems there are also doubts over whether Barca will pay the €10 million to make the deal permanent. The purchase option also becomes mandatory “if he plays 45 minutes in more than 20 games with the first team.”
