The Frenchman has missed the start of the season
Ousmane Dembele is finally closing in on a return to first-team action for Barcelona and could be passed fit in time for next week’s trip to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
The French forward has been back in training for a little while and went for a check-up this week back in Finland with the surgeon who operated on his knee in June.
According to Catalunya Radio, if Dembele is given the all-clear from Dr Lasse Lempainen then he will be available to be included in the squad to face Rayo on Wednesday.
Interestingly, the report also reckons there’s also a chance Barca could also decide to put Dembele in the stands if he doesn’t renew his contract at the club.
Negotiations don’t appear to have advanced very far with the Frenchman whose current deal expires at the end of the 2021-22 season.
President Joan Laporta has claimed Dembele wants to stay but there’s also been reports Barca “fear another Ilaix” situation with the forward and suggestions a move to the Premier League could be in the offing.
