The Dutchman felt his team deserved all three points

Ronald Koeman was pretty happy with his team after watching Barcelona come from behind to beat Valencia 3-1 at the Camp Nou on Sunday in La Liga.

The hosts went behind early on when Jose Gaya fired a low shot home but recovered well and equalized through Ansu Fati.

Goals from Memphis Depay and Philippe Coutinho followed and Koeman was pleased with the way the team reacted to going behind.

“It is true that we have a week with three home games. We must highlight the attitude of the team, despite having that start to the game,” he said. “We reacted well and we played well and we deserved to win.”

Koeman was also happy to see Fati back on the scoresheet and spoke a little bit about how the club plan to handle the youngster’s game time as he recovers from a lengthy injury lay-off.

“He has to improve physically little by little, but his quality is undeniable,” he said.

“Today he has already played an hour and he has more and more competition rhythm. Hopefully he can play many more years at this club.

“It has been his first start and we have agreed with the doctors that change so as not to burden him with minutes so soon.”

The Dutchman also took time out to praise Coutinho and Sergino Dest. The American surprisingly played as a right winger and picked up an assist for the Brazilian’s goal.

“I think he [Coutinho] was good. He came on, he was fast and with his freedom we were able to control the game better,” he said.

“He is a player who knows how to score goals and has taken an important step. I have believed in him from day one and he will regain his quality.

“[Dest] knows how to play as a winger, he had already done it in the past, he is used to it, and he has done it very well. I think he played a great game.”

The win will relieve some of the pressure on Koeman and puts Barca just two points behind both Real Madrid and Atletico in the table. It’s also a good start to a crunch week with Dynamo Kiev and Real Madrid up next.
