Torino are hopeful of a loan deal for Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen but a move will only go through should the Catalans cover his wages, say reports. According to Sky Sport Italia, the Belgian international – who spent last season on loan at Serie A rivals Roma – is wanted by the Turin-based club, although they would struggle to cover his annual wage bill €2.5m.

Gerard López’s side drew 0-0 with Racing in the return leg of the play-off final and this meant that their 4-1 victory at El Sardinero secured promotion to Spain’s second division. Barça’s second team are back in the highest league they can be in after a fabulous season in which they were league champions of Group III in Division 2B.

Victory over Racing de Santander in the play-off final means Barça B have secured promotion to Division 2A for the sixth time in their history. The most recent one prior to Sunday's success was in 2009/2010 with Luis Enrique as coach and the first team’s Sergi Roberto in the side. Next season will be the 23rd time Barça’s second team will play in the second highest division in Spain.
Champions of the III Torneo Internacional LaLiga Promises | FC Barcelona
There have been three editions of the Torneo Internacional de LaLiga Promises and FC Barcelona have won all three of them. The U12A side defeated Valencia 2-0 in the semi-finals and then won 3-2 against Real Madrid in a close final. A Jan Molina goal and a double from Iker Bravo ensured the trophy returned to Barcelona a second after winning the Torneo Nacional de LaLiga Promises in Villareal.
