There's no stopping the transfer merry-go-round
The Marco Verratti to Barcelona saga has gone more than a little cold this week, but good old L’Equipe have provided an update, as we head towards July, and pre-season.
According to the French newspaper, Paris Saint-Germain are set to ramp up their efforts to land the Monaco midfielder.
Antero Henrique has reportedly resumed talks with the Brazilian and his representatives, as he aims to bring him to Parc des Princes this summer in a deal worth around €50m.
Now clearly, should PSG manage to bring in Fabinho, it could make them far more willing to allow Verratti to leave.
But it’s not quite as easy as all that, as PSG are quite possibly the last team on the planet Monaco would want to sell the midfielder to.
There’s also reported interest in Fabinho from Manchester United and, interestingly, Atletico Madrid, although of course that would be hugely complicated by the club’s transfer ban.
Another potential problem is that are Monaco will surely not want to sell all of their players this summer.
Bernardo Silva has already gone, Tiemoué Bakayoko appears to be going, and Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar are rarely out of the headlines too.
PSG may indeed want Fabinho, but at the moment that deals looks as difficult to pull off as Barcelona’s bid for Verratti.
