FC Barcelona will face Juventus in the Champions League again, this time with another interesting subplot: the future of Paulo Dybala.
The Argentine star’s affection for Barça is known. If the Catalans came calling, "I would swim to Barcelona," he once said when he played for Palermo. "It's only just across the Mediterranean after all."
Despite moving to Turin, the rumors haven’t ceased, and we have a fresh one now from Mundo Deportivo’s Francesc Aguilar.
In his latest column, he writes that Dybala has asked his agent to get concrete offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid before making a decision to renew for Juve.
That is to say, if a good enough offer came to Dybala from either La Liga giant, he would be off. Otherwise, he would remain in Turin - and spur English suitors.
But where would Dybala fit in at Barça? If the board doesn’t move, there’s every possibility Madrid will pounce.
This is just one of many subplots in an intriguing Champions League tie.
