Report: Barcelona, Valencia in advanced talks for Brazilian goalkeeper

Great replacement for Claudio Bravo

Barcelona have reportedly agreed to sell goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to Manchester City. Now it's time to find a replacement.

According to multiple reports in Spain, the Catalan giants are negotiating a transfer deal with Valencia for Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves, who would join the Catalans on a four-year contract and a €9 million transfer fee. Alves has accepted a role as backup to Marc-André ter Stegen, who will become the undisputed starting keeper with Bravo joining City after the Spanish Super Cup.

Diego Alves is a proven, talented keeper who knows La Liga with a track record of great performances against the biggest Spanish sides. Alves always steps up his game when facing Barça and Real Madrid, and he'd be a very reliable backup to Ter Stegen, and can even play the Copa del Rey matches to rest the German if necessary.

Negotiating with Valencia is never easy, but the Bats wouldn't mind selling Alves given that the player is on considerable wages and is now a backup to Matthew Ryan. Diego wants to play for Barça and have a shot at major trophies, and his acceptance to a backup role makes this a spectacular deal for the Catalan giants.

Excited for Alves to potentially join, Blaugranes?
