What to look for this week in La Liga

Real Betis vs. Deportivo La Coruña

After a rough matchup against Barcelona, Betis return home to face Deportivo, who are coming off a win over Eibar. Deportivo will be without Lucas Perez, who they have sold to Arsenal.

Betis is coming off a 6-2 loss to Barcelona, but they shouldn’t let the loss affect them too much as they look to get back on track against Deportivo.

Espanyol vs. Málaga

After conceding six goals to Sevilla last weekend, Espanyol will feel relieved to go up against a light hitting Málaga at home.

Málaga is coming off a disappointing draw to relegation candidate Osasuna last week, and will look to catch Espanyol down after their tiring game in the first week.

Osasuna vs. Real Sociedad

Osasuna are coming off salvaging a point on the road, they now return home to their home in Pamplona that even the biggest Spanish clubs dread playing in.

Real Sociedad is coming off a 3-0 loss to Real Madrid where they had numerous chances on goal, but overall looked lackluster aside from goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli. Eusebio Sacrestan’s side will hope to come away with their first win of the campaign on the road.

Eibar vs. Valencia

Eibar is coming off a loss to Deportivo where they blew 1-0 lead. They will face a Valencia side that is undergoing major changes. Changes that have led to nonstellar results on the pitch.

Valencia come off a shocking 4-2 loss to Las Palmas at home. A loss that soured the mood of the fans. The fans have been less than happy with the club during Peter Lim’s tenure as owner, and they haven’t been shy about it. With the club looking at the potential losses of both Shkrodan Mustafi and Paco Alcacer, thing could get worse for them this season.

Real Madrid vs. Celta Vigo

Real Madrid is coming off a 3-0 win away from home over Real Sociedad. There have been rumors surrounding the exit of James Rodriguez, and Isco is out with an ankle injury. Despite that, they have the quality to take care of this Celta side at home.

Leganés vs. Atlético Madrid

Atletico Madrid looks to win its first game of the season after a shock draw against Alavés after conceding a goal in the last minute.

Leganés secured their first ever victory in the top flight of Spain after winning 1-0 at Celta last week. Despite that,

Las Palmas vs. Granada

Las Palmas looked a dangerous side against Valencia, but they will face a test against Paco Jemez’s side that will certainly take the game to them no matter the circumstance.

Granada have also received Barcelona starlet Sergi Samper on loan for the season,

Alavés vs. Sporting Gijón

Alavés will be happy to return home having stolen a point from Atlético Madrid, an expected Liga title contender. They will face a Sporting side that is coming off a very convincing 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Barcelona

After facing off six times last season, Barcelona and Athletic Club square off for the first time this campaign. Barca is coming off a dominating performance over Real Betis where they scored six goals. Athletic have come

Villarreal vs. Sevilla

After being eliminated from the Champions League midweek, Villarreal face Sevilla. Sevilla fired six goals past Espanyol in week 1 of La Liga. This looks to be one of the premier matches of the weekend in Spain with two sides that will be playing in Europe this season, as well as the UEFA Europa League winners, and a semifinalist.
