La Liga News: 28 August 2016: Real Madrid Move Top, Atletico Stumble Again

Alvaro Morata scored his first goal since returning to Real Madrid as he helped his team beat a stubborn Celta Vigo side and go top of La Liga. Morata, who rejoined Real in June after a two-year spell at Juventus, finished after Celta Vigo goalkeeper Sergio had parried Marco Asensio's attempted chip.
Diego Simeone has called for patience after Atletico Madrid drew their second straight match of the new La Liga campaign, 0-0 away at newly-promoted Leganes. After dropping points in a 1-1 draw at home against Alaves in the first week of the season, Los Rojiblancos once again failed to fire against relegation-favourites Leganes.
Atletico Madrid's stuttering start to the 2016-17 La Liga season continued with a 0-0 draw at promoted Leganes on Saturday in spite of Antoine Griezmann's return. The visitors only had to make a short trip south to Leganes but again they were a world away from their usual standard, following up last week's Alaves stalemate with a similarly underwhelming result.
After having won just one league title in the last eight years, Real Madrid's former striker Fernando Morientes believes wrestling the crown back from rivals Barcelona must be Los Blancos' main objective for the current campaign. Although securing the same will be far from easy, La Liga remains the bread and butter for Spanish top flight clubs, particularly the top two or three teams in the division.

Valencia fall against Eibar for second consecutive defeat - Yahoo Sports Canada

Elsewhere, Valencia slumped to a second consecutive loss after falling at Eibar 1-0, while Real Sociedad got on track by winning at Osasuna 2-0. Valencia's latest defeat comes with the club close to selling Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal, and Barcelona negotiating to sign away striker Paco Alcacer. Neither player was on Valencia's team at Eibar.
