The Catalans have not been in touch...yet
Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has once again played down rumors he could leave his post with the national team and replace Ronald Koeman at the Camp Nou.
Martinez is believed to be one of four men currently in Barca’s thoughts, along with Xavi, Andrea Pirlo and Marcelo Gallardo.
The 48-year-old is currently preparing for the Nations League Final Four in Italy and spoke about the rumors surrounding his future.
“There is nothing at all,” he said. “There are no contacts.
“The basis of my friendship with Jordi [Cruyff] is that we separate the private from the professional.
“At no point have I asked Jordi what my situation is in Barcelona. I also don’t believe he has the role to appoint a possible new trainer.”
Martinez went on say he doesn’t particularly follow Barcelona and didn’t watch the defeat to Benfica because he was at Juventus versus Chelsea instead to see Romelu Lukaku in action.
However, there was an acknowledgement towards the interview that Martinez is well aware things can change very quickly in football.
“In football you never know what tomorrow will bring,” he added.
“I get up every morning as if I were working for Belgium until the last day of my contract, but I realize that many circumstances can happen along the way.”

Martinez is thought to have the backing of Cruyff but is contracted to Belgium until the 2022 World Cup and doesn’t seem in any rush to leave his role, particularly ahead of a Nations League semi-final against France on October 10.
It’s thought that Koeman will be sacked by Barcelona after Saturday’s La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid regardless of the result at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
